NJCRI, located in Newark, New Jersey is the leading social service & health care provider in New Jersey.  We are expanding our services to include providing workforce development job related skills training to clients in the Greater Newark Area.  Our newest initiative is the North Jersey Career Academy (NJCA), is an approved NJ Department of Labor Training Provider.  NJCRI is a major health care research provider with a new emphasis on pediatric and child care services providing screening, referral and supportive services to Essex County, the City of Newark and the Greater Newark Area child care providers. We provide One-Stop Center Workforce Development services and career training to the Unemployed, TANF & GA Welfare to Work clients.  The North Jersey Career Academy training program initiatives include job training and career development, with emphasis on Early Childhood Education, Computer Literacy, and Job Search Training, for families and community residents.

The Academy supports the Mission of NJCRI and our training philosophy is to provide a quality workforce education for our students.  We are committed to offering our students the best training available.

NJCRI-North Jersey Career Academy encourages good business practices, the development of critical thinking skills, effective communication skills, and leadership training.  NJCA promotes the employability and the personal development of residents by providing the training, educational opportunities, support services and resources which will empower them to:

  • Achieve economic self-sufficiency

  • Create an upwardly mobile career path.

At NJCRI we use all our professional skills, our research capability, and our creativity to bring an expanding range of services to the community—services to help at-risk individuals, parents, and families to balance the complex needs of today’s employment marketplace.

​From our first days in 1988, the mission of NJCRI has been “Seeking Cures for tomorrow, providing support for today” and to serve and strengthen families and children. That has also been our daily work. Our mission hasn’t changed. Our work has. It has expanded to meet the growing need for skilled and well trained service providers.  We realize we have been providing referral services and job training advocacy for many years, and now we are expanding our training initiatives to include Workforce Development.  Hence, we have established the North Jersey Career Academy.

If you are interested in Job Training or Job Search activities you Must go to:

 

  1. Newark One Stop at 990 Broad Street or

  2. Essex County One Stop at 50 So. Clinton St.

  3. Any Local County One Stop Center (Hudson, Jersey City, Passaic, Bergen, Union)

 

You must register at the One Stop Center and ask for training. To be eligible you must be receiving:

  • Unemployment benefits

  •  Welfare TANF or GA

  • Out of School Youth 18-24yrs

  • DVR

 

Only Students referred from a One Stop Center are eligible for funding to a Training Provider.

No private pay students ALLOWED.
